I am always encouraging my members to think about how they can encourage people to make multi-product orders. Digital products are typically a lower price point but sell at a high volume, so tweaking what is called your average order value (AOV) can make a big difference quite quickly in a store. Check out this order I got this week in my HeyLovelyCo store – someone came through a $3 product and spent $24.90.

What is average order value?

Average Order Value (AOV) is a key metric used in e-commerce and retail to measure the average amount of money each customer spends per transaction.
Create in Collections
When you are creating products, create them in a matching set so people can purchase items that match. This works particularly well for the wedding, party printable & business niches.
Encourage bundle purchases
Always plan your collections to have a much higher priced but great value bundle at the top, and encourage people in the listing description & product images to check it out!
Offer X save % discounts
In your main store banner offer a buy X save % discount or coupon code (for example buy 3 templates save 30%). This encourages people to buy more than one item at the same time, and if set up correctly in Etsy will show a graph at checkout saying add X more products to save X.
They may seem little, but these changes can be a game changer when it comes to reaching your income goals. The best thing is once you set them up, they maintain themselves and just become part of the engine that is your Etsy store.
