From Chaotic Desktop to Digital Product Idea (Desktop Organizers That Sell)

Okay, I have to tell you something…a little embarrassing.

It’s hardly a secret, but my desktop used to be a nightmare.

Icons everywhere. Screenshots piled on top of downloads, piled on top of files.

I definitely should have organised it about six months ago 😅

Every time I sat down to work, I’d spend the first five minutes just trying to find what I needed.

It looked chaotic.

It felt chaotic.

And while I generally embrace a little mess… this was a lot.

It was setting the tone for my whole day before I’d even opened a single app.

The Shift That Changed Everything

I kept thinking... there has to be a better way.

So on Friday, I actually sat down and sorted it out.

I grouped my icons into categories, gave everything a home, and pulled together a pretty background to tie it all together.

And then… I went down a rabbit hole 😂

Custom icons, matching themes, the whole thing.

If you’re wondering where I landed… my desktop is now a full hobby farm 🐄🌿

And then the second thought hit me…

This would make an amazing digital product.

And sure enough, when I checked the sales stats…

desktop organisers and icon sets are a genuinely underserved niche.

People want their workspace to look good —they just don’t know how to make it happen themselves.

The best-selling desktop organisers usually have two key components:

→ A well-designed desktop background

(with some kind of structure to organise folders)

(so users can customise their folders and keep everything cohesive)

What Niche Does This Fit Into?

This is one of those rare products that fits across multiple niches.

But if I had to narrow it down…

Planning and business are the strongest fits.

Think productivity, organisation, aesthetic workflows.

Tips for Creating a Product Like This

If you’re going to create something like this…

Pick a fun, slightly gamified theme.

This is one of those products where you can really lean into creativity.

The more unique and immersive the theme feels…the more people connect

with it.
