How to Find Christmas Digital Product Trends Before They Start Trending

I see it every year - Etsy sellers scramble in mid-November, wondering why their Christmas products aren’t selling…
And it feels like a few others seem to have had a crystal ball and been able to predict whats going to be popular.
Here’s the truth:
You can’t know exactly what the Christmas trends will be but there are places you can find information to make an educated decision.
Let’s talk about how to find Christmas digital product trends before they’re trending.
1. Watch what buyers are pinning, not buying.
Type in “Christmas printable,” “holiday planner,” or “gift tags” and look at the auto-suggested phrases - those are rising searches, not yet saturated.
Then check the dates of top pins. Anything over 6 months old and still trending? It’s coming back this year.
2. Read the reviews - they whisper the next big thing.
Scroll through reviews on popular products in your niche.
People literally tell you what’s missing:
“I wish this came in neutral colors.”
“Could you make this editable?”
“Loved this but needed a version for teachers.”
Every single “I wish” is a new product idea waiting for you.
3. Follow the supply chain of trends.
Retailers like Target, Kmart, or Anthropologie set the aesthetic direction months in advance.
When you see dusty pink ornaments or retro gingerbread houses hitting shelves in October, that’s your cue to make digital versions - planners, wall art, stickers, tags - with that same look.
4. Track digital product search data.
Use Etsy Search Bar or a tool like Insight Factory to note keyword growth between August - October. Some trends are already showing up - pay particular attention to any style trends you find. Those are your trend seedlings and will only get bigger the closer we get to Christmas.
I’ve done a quick search and found a couple that have already popped up:
Christmas Junk Journal Advent Box
Christmas Folio Tutorial
Coastal Christmas Snowman Clipart
Christmas Dice Gift Exchange SVG
Christmas Planner Google Sheets
Real Estate Christmas Flyer
Christmas Quotes Instagram
Secret Santa Form
Ginger Jar Christmas Invite
Christmas Carol Party Invite
If you start watching now instead of waiting for December, you’ll already be in position when the crowd catches up.
Happy creating and I hope this helps!
